  • All candidates, who have cleared Standard 12th in any stream from a recognized board, meet Bachelor of Fine Arts eligibility criteria.
  • Although there is usually no other set criteria, but some universities/ colleges may also demand a minimum percentage (usually 50 – 60%) that candidates need to secure in Class 12 to get admission in the BFA course.

Advantages or benefits of Bachelor of Fine Arts: After finishing B.F.A, aspirants can study a post graduation in Fine Arts i.e., M.F.A. (Master in Fine Arts) or M.V.A.(Master in Visual Arts). Bachelor of Fine Arts program prepares the aspirants for starting a profession in the area of visual communication. The graduation helps a candidate to develop a general idea of the Fine Arts industry.

Eligibility Criteria for B.F.A: Once an aspirant finishes +2 in any group from a recognised board, he/she can study the fine arts program. 

There is no entrance test for B.F.A program. However, there are some institutes that conduct the entrance examination. Some fine arts institutes carry out Aptitude test and based on that, admission process is carried out.

Admissions in BFA are mainly provided based on merit. Merit lists are prepared by colleges/ universities based on marks obtained by candidates in class 12th board exams. Some institutions also provide admission to candidates based on entrance exams. A BFA entrance exam typically contains both theories as well as practical papers.

The theory paper contains multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that assess candidates’ theoretical knowledge about the chosen BFA subject. In a practical paper, candidates are evaluated on their practical knowledge about the chosen BFA subject.  

The admission process for BFA courses in India is mentioned below:

  • Step 1: Submit an online application with personal, academic, and contact details.
  • Step 2: Appear for the entrance exam (if applicable), which may include a drawing test and/or art theory.
  • Step 3: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a personal interview or portfolio submission.
